There are very few serious side effects or problems that can arise from hair restoration surgery. It is a minor surgical procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis and is very safe. The main 2 problems I have experienced are in less that 5% of patients the donor scar is a little wider than I would like, about 5 mm. The other is recipient site shock loss, which occurs at about 1 to 2 months and always resolved a month or 2 later.
