A lot of guys who are dealing with hair loss wonder when is the best time to get a hair transplant. The answer to this question will vary depending on the individual but there are some common signs that apply to most men.

These include –

  • Your hair loss has stabilized

One of the best signs that you’re ready to get a hair transplant is when your hair loss has stabilized. Why is this? Because it is a very good indicator that the results you’ll have post-surgery will be stable.

The reason that younger guys who are only just starting to see the first signs of hair loss are discouraged from getting a hair transplant immediately is because if their hair loss continues at an aggressive rate then they’ll need multiple procedures to get the right look.

  • You have got the maximum benefit from hair loss treatments

If you’ve been taking hair loss treatments such as minoxidil and finasteride for a while then you’ll know that after a certain period of time, the benefit you get from them starts to level out. Normally this is after the first couple of years.

Once you’ve reached this point and if your hair loss is still bothering you then it’s an excellent time to consider getting a hair transplant.

  • You still have enough coverage to get the look you want

An important thing to be aware of is that in order to achieve a full head of hair with a hair transplant, you will need a certain amount of existing coverage. Therefore there’s a careful balance to strike between waiting long enough for your hair loss to stabilize but not waiting so long that you’ve lost too much hair to get the look you want.

  • Other people have started to comment on your hair loss

Although you shouldn’t get a hair transplant purely for other peoples’ benefit; when others are commenting on your hair loss it can make you feel very self-conscious and this is when a lot of guys start seriously considering a hair transplant.

  • You can afford it

If you can pay for a hair transplant without getting into debt or worrying about your finances then this is an excellent time to go ahead with it.
