Toupees, wigs, hair pieces – whatever you want to call them, they’re usually viewed by most people as a desperate move to maintain a youthful appearance. But is that assessment fair? Well there’s no denying that wearing a toupee is not something that anyone would choose to do in an ideal world. Unfortunately a lot of men are not well educated on the subject of hair loss and can assume that wearing a toupee is the only option.
Better alternatives
Whilst wearing a toupee might have been the only option for men with hair loss at one time, fortunately there are now much better alternatives available on the market. These include –
- Proven treatments – It’s surprising how many people are still unaware that there are treatments available for hair loss that have been scientifically proven to be effective. Both finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine) have both been approved by the FDA as viable treatments for male pattern balding.
It’s worth pointing out that they don’t work for everybody and the results vary significantly but anyone who’s dealing with hair loss should at least try them first
- A hair transplant – A hair transplant is easily the most effective way to regain a full head of hair. Unlike wearing a toupee, with a hair transplant the hair that’s used is your own. The hair on the back and side of your head is genetically programmed to be permanent. By transplanting this hair to the thinning/bald part of your head, you can get hair that’s completely natural looking.
- Hair fibres – For men who do not want to get a hair transplant, hair fibres are an excellent alternative. The hair fibres that are now on the market are designed to cling to your existing hair and create a full and thick appearance, which is completely natural looking.
