This is a 29 year-old male patient who came to us with a 4 year history of hair loss, with significant recession of his frontal and temporal (side) hairlines. This resulted in the appearance of deep recessions that, even before age 30, were extending well behind his ears.
He’d already started finasteride about a year before his surgery and had already noticed that his hair loss had stopped. He had no side effects from this medication.
We did an 1800 graft FUE procedure to advance his frontal hairline only, which effectively brings it down along the sides as well to improve the deep recessions. He didn’t want to bring the temporal (side) hairlines forward just in case he had future recession in that area behind the transplanted hair.
His result (shown at 1 year post-op) is amazing! Even though we only advance the frontal hairline by about 1cm (as seen on the surgical markings), you can see from the photo markings that his hairline was brought significantly closer to his eyes, and the frontal-temporal points are now well ahead of his ears, instead of behind them. The overall result is very natural and very masculine looking, and is sure to continue to be well into the decades ahead.
Lastly, you can see that there is absolutely no evidence of his surgery in his donor area and no one could tell that this patient had any surgery at all.
Immediately following his surgery he was also started on high strength topical minoxidil to further enhance his surgical result, and this patient is continuing on that combination of finasteride and minoxidil to keep his hair looking great for decades to come.
