Aftercare
Aftercare is extremely important when it comes to hair transplants. When the donor hair has first been transplanted it’s vital that the scalp isn’t subjected to any pressure or rubbing that could cause the newly transplanted hair to come loose. This is why patients are advised to use special shampoo and sleep in a semi-upright position for the first few weeks following surgery.
Following your surgery, you’ll be provided with everything you need and be given full aftercare in detail so you don’t have to worry about anything.
When can I travel home?
A lot of patients who travel to get a hair transplant wonder about when to fly back home after their procedure. Although there are no set rules about this, it’s usually advisable to allow at least one day to recuperate after your surgery.
Anyone who travels a lot knows that flights and airports can be quite stressful, so if you can allow yourself some time to recover before flying home then this would be ideal.
Is there anything I should avoid after surgery?
Anything that thins your blood should be avoided for 3 days following surgery. Therefore you should avoid alcohol and taken any thinning medication, such as Aspirin.
It’s also recommended that you avoid any very strenuous activities that will cause you to sweat a lot in the days immediately after surgery. Also if you use Rogaine then it’s recommended that you cease applying it for a few days after your surgery also.
What about hats?
Hats are generally best avoided for the first couple of weeks after surgery while the new hair is still taking root. If you must wear a hat in the days after your surgery then you should avoid wearing anything that’s too tight and could affect the newly transplanted hair.
Will I have any follow ups with Dr Jones?
Absolutely. Dr Jones offers digital consultations with all his clients who’ve travelled for their hair transplants and cannot make it to his surgery in person due to distance. He will be able to assess your results, offer advice and address any questions or concerns you might have.
