2400 Graft FUE Hair Transplant with Beard Grafts for Advanced Hair Loss
At 32 years old, this patient came to Toronto Hair Transplant Surgeons seeking a solution for advanced hair loss. His hair loss had begun at age 21 and progressed steadily over the following decade. By the time of his consultation, he had reached Norwood Stage 6, with extensive thinning across his scalp.
He had never used medical treatments for hair loss. His primary goal was to restore a natural hairline and improve density in his frontal scalp. He also wanted to prevent further hair loss and preserve his remaining hair.
A Strategic Approach to Hair Restoration
Given his advanced hair loss and limited donor supply, careful surgical planning was essential.
Our team performed a 2400 graft FUE hair transplant, concentrating on the hairline and frontal scalp. Approximately 2200 grafts came from his scalp donor area, while another 200 grafts came from his beard.
Beard grafts can provide an excellent additional source of donor hair when used appropriately. By strategically incorporating beard hair, we increased the available graft supply without placing excessive demands on his limited scalp donor area.
Our priority was to create a natural-looking hairline that would restore facial framing while maximizing frontal coverage.
One Year Later: A Natural, Satisfying Result
At his one-year follow-up, the patient was extremely happy with his transformation. He particularly appreciated his restored hairline and the natural way his new hair framed his face.
Shortly after surgery, he also began a combination of finasteride and high-strength minoxidil. He tolerated both treatments without issues. These medications form an important part of his long-term strategy to help preserve existing hair.
This case demonstrates how thoughtful graft allocation and the strategic use of beard donor hair can improve restoration options for advanced hair loss.
