How To Take Pictures for Your Virtual Consultation
When providing you with your hair restoration options and planning for your hair restoration procedure, we rely upon having good information about your areas of hair loss as well as the state of your donor area(s).
Having the right photos means your doctor can start the planning process right away, even before you meet online or on the phone. The doctors at the Toronto Hair Transplant Surgeons have more than a decade of experience assessing patients virtually and via photography, from patients coming to them both locally, and from all over the world.
Please see the example below for the types of photos that will help your doctor plan your hair restoration. Your photos don’t have to be exactly like the example, but this should give you a sense of the views of your head that will be helpful for your doctor. And don’t worry, if you can’t take photos, it doesn’t mean we can’t help you! We’ll do our best to examine you via video chat, and if we need additional information we’ll let you know exactly what we need and how you can provide it.

Tips for Taking Good Photos:
1. Choose a well-lit area with enough quality of lighting to be able to see your areas of thinning, but not so strong as to create glare or dark shadows.
2. Choose a light-coloured background, such as a blank wall or door.
3. If possible, have someone else take the photos for you.
4. If your areas of hair loss are covered by your surrounding hair, move your hair out of the way so your doctor can clearly see the areas of thinning or loss.
5. You don’t need a professional camera; the camera on most smartphones is more than good enough. Low-quality webcams will not show enough detail.
